The ferroelectricity of multivalent codoped Bismuth ferrite (BiFeO3; BFO) nanoparticles (NPs) is revealed and utilized for photocatalysis, exploiting their narrow electronic bandgap. photocatalytic activity ferroelectric photocatalysts BiFe0.95Mn0.05O3 (BFM) NPs mono-, di-, or tri-valent cations (Ag+, Ca2+, Dy3+; MDT) coincorporated BFM are studied under ultrasonication in acidic conditions. It found that such doping enhances the approximately three times. correlation with structural, optical, electrical properties doped established. increase spontaneous polarization by mono- one major factors enhancing performance along other as stronger light absorption visible range, low recombination rate charge carriers, larger surface area NPs. A-site BFO divalent elements suppresses polarization, whereas trivalent (Dy3+) monovalent (Ag+) provide an polarization. depolarization field these single domain acts a driving force to mitigate photoinduced carriers.
